Evaluating the Effectiveness of the Comprehensible Input Approach on the Speaking Skills of Non-English Major Students in English Classes
(Nguyen Tat Thanh University, 2025) Nguyen, Thi Thuy Nam
This study investigates the effectiveness of the Comprehensible Input (CI) approach in enhancing English-speaking skills among non-English major university students in Vietnam. Based on Krashen’s Language Acquisition Theory (1985), a quasi-experimental design involved 360 students randomly assigned to an experimental group (CI-based instruction) and a control group (traditional grammar-based instruction). Pre- and post-tests assessed fluency, pronunciation, vocabulary, and communicative competence. Qualitative data from surveys and interviews complemented the findings. The CI group showed significant improvements across all domains (p < 0.001), with increased confidence and engagement. Qualitative results supported CI’s effectiveness in fostering natural language use. This study advocates CI as a valuable strategy for EFL contexts and suggests practical applications for curriculum development in Vietnamese higher education.

Investigating the Effects of Using Chatbot AI in Teaching Pronunciation to EFL Learners at Nguyen Tat Thanh University
(Nguyen Tat Thanh University (Faculty of Pharmacy), 2025) Nguyen, Hoang Kham; Vo, Thanh Thao
This study explores the effectiveness of Chatbot AI in improving final consonant pronunciation among 106 A2-level EFL learners at Nguyen Tat Thanh University based on action research. Eight learners were purposefully selected for in-depth analysis of experiencing Chatbot AI based on stimulated recall interviews and thematic analysis. The other 98 participants engaged in quasi-experimental design, divided into a control group (n = 49) and an experimental group (n = 49). The analysis utilized independent samples t-tests to compare the pre- and post-intervention error rates for fricative and plosive omission and substitution. The thematic analysis of the interviews highlighted that the 08 learners appreciated the tool’s real-time, detailed, and personalized feedback. Meanwhile, the statistical results revealed significant reduction in the experimental group’s error rate after using Chatbot AI: fricative omission decreased by a mean difference of 13.12, plosive omission by 24.00, fricative substitution by 3.86, and plosive substitution by 13.65, compared to the control group. These findings suggest that Chatbot AI effectively reduce pronunciation errors across fricative and plosive final consonants, with potential benefits for EFL instruction when integrated with teacher guidance.

The Influence of Online Classrooms on EFL Students’ Willingness to Communicate at NTTU
(Nguyen Tat Thanh University, 2025) Vu, Thanh Ngan
Online learning has been brought into the field of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education as a significant transformation which requires an analysis of the key factors in the virtual classroom environment to identify whether it fosters or hinders students’ Willingness to Communicate (WTC) at Nguyen Tat Thanh University. The research was conducted with 137 EFL students in their second year and 35 lecturers teaching online classes at university with data collected from doing online surveys for two groups of participants, so a quantitative method was employed. Based on the research results, the enhancing and decreasing factors of WTC are found to point out though online learning platforms offer opportunities to motivate students to interact and overcome several obstacles. Findings from the present study also suggest measures for EFL instructors at Nguyen Tat Thanh University to maximize online classroom functions to boost learners’ communication and engagement.

Investigating the effectiveness of implementing the Wordwall platform in teaching vocabulary to non-English majored students at NTTU
(Trường Đại học Nguyễn Tất Thành (Khoa Kỹ thuật Thực phẩm và Môi trường), 2025) Pham, Thi Truc Nhu; To, Vu Le Ngan
This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using the Wordwall platform for teaching vocabulary to non-majored students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University. A total of 200 participants were assigned to the experimental group (n=100) and test group (n=100) for a pretest-posttest design, followed by a questionnaire at the end of the study. The study was conducted over three two-week periods, during which the test group engaged in vocabulary learning activities on the Wordwall platform, while the control group utilized traditional learning methods. Vocabulary proficiency was assessed through pretest and posttest evaluations. The results revealed that students using Wordwall showed greater improvements in vocabulary learning compared to those using conventional methods. Additionally, the use of Wordwall not only enhanced students' ability to learn new words, but also fostered higher levels of engagement and motivation. These results suggest that integrating the Wordwall platform into English vocabulary instruction could significantly improve learning outcomes for non-English majored students at Nguyen Tat Thanh University.

The impact of artificial intelligence on the English self-study process at Nguyen Tat Thanh University
(Nguyen Tat Thanh University (Faculty of Pharmacy), 2025) Tran, Trung Kien
Using artificial intelligence (AI) for English education is both beneficial and detrimental in several ways. A vast majority of previous related studies demonstrated that using AI could help English as a foreign language (EFL) learners nurture their English knowledge and skills, hence becoming more autonomous and possessing good learning traits. The present study employed an online questionnaire to investigate the impact of AI on English self-study process among 270 first-year undergraduates at Nguyen Tat Thanh University during the second semester of 2024-2025 academic year. SPSS (Version 27.0) was used to analyze the data. The results indicated that AI implementation can facilitate the students’ English self-and allow many implications for local EFL teaching and learning.
