Resistance to antibiotics poses a major global threat according to the World Health Organization. There are various ways in which bacterium can develop its resistance to an antibiotic and efflux pump is one of the major mechanisms. AcrB of Escherichia coli is the main efflux pump. Hence, efflux pump inhibitors (EPIs) is a promising strategy to restore antibacterial potency. This study focuses on potential inhibitors of AcrB on Escherichia coli. The virtual screening approach built in this study is 3D-pharmacophore, which is used to screen potential inhibitors that are studied in laboratory.
